A Trip Home

I just got home from a two week trip to Washington to visit my family. Ben had to work in S. Oregon for two weeks, so Sophia and I headed north. Normally a trip back home is pretty much a weekend of driving. Driving to get there and driving back and forth between houses to see everyone, but not this time. We slept in, we lounged by the pool, we visited places of childhood nostalgia and we even had time to take our shoes off and feel the grass between our toes! Ahh, summer. It smells like sunscreen, campfires and kiddie-pool plastic. It's about taking a nap after swimming all day, coasting down hill on your bike and eating BBQ'd hamburgers and Doritos. Any takers?

Here we are at Silver Falls where we camped and hiked every summer growing up.

Enjoying the view from the top.

My big sissy Lynda (aka Lou), Sophia and me.

Momma's little trunk monkey. Its the best place to change a diaper on the go.

Lou and Sophia enjoying an evening swing.

Feeding the baby is a family affair.

As you can probably tell my family doesn't like Sophia at all. ;) Here Sophia is with my little sister Stacy and family friend Gavin.

Hi blue eyes!

It got down right hot while we were there, but Lou saved the day with a pool! I think everyone must have had one of these when they were little. I can't even count the times I scraped my shins on the rigid plastic over the years, but even so just the sight of a little pool like this makes me smile.

What? I told you - it was hot!

I hope you all find some time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer. :-)
